L. Anthony Cirillo, MD, FACEP is a partner within US Acute Care Solutions where he serves as the Director of Government Affairs, a position he has held for the past 17 years. In this role, Dr. Cirillo has represented US Acute Care Solutions and emergency physicians in a variety of organizations and coalitions in the healthcare system reform arena. In addition to his work as Director of Government Affairs, Dr. Cirillo works clinically in Florida as an emergency department physician.
Dr. Cirillo attended medical school at the University of Vermont, and after completing a transitional year at the George Washington University Hospital, completed his residency in emergency medicine at the UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Following residency, he served on the faculty at the Albany Medical Center emergency medicine residency program for three years before moving to Rhode Island. In Rhode Island, he served as the Chief of Emergency Medicine at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. In addition to his emergency department hospital leadership, Dr. Cirillo worked as a consultant to the Rhode Island Department of Health where he oversaw the creation of the Center for Emergency Preparedness & Response, providing a public health emergency response capability for the State of Rhode Island.
Dr. Cirillo has served in numerous health policy-related leadership positions within emergency medicine. He currently serves on both the EDPMA Federal Health Policy and State Regulatory & Insurance Committees. He currently serves as the Chair of the EDPMA PAC Board of Directors. Dr. Cirillo also currently serves on the ACEP National Board of Directors and is a Past Chair of ACEP’s State Legislative & Regulatory Affairs, and Federal Government Affairs Committees. Dr. Cirillo is currently serving as a Steering Committee member of the ACEP/EDPMA Task Force on the implementation of the No Surprises Act.
